The investment security of a billing system can only be guaranteed if it is exactly matched to requirements (those of the company and of the customer), can reflect market changes quickly and meets the highest quality standards. This applies similarly to the

·individual mapping of individual business processes,

·to demand-oriented operations

·and to technical implementation offering investment security.

This means not just producing bills according the requirements of the customer but also using the billing systems to react flexibly and cost-effectively to the necessities of the market, or being able to develop crucial market advantages with new product/marketing and sales ideas.

The Highways Billing Suite is developed from those experiences and requirements are a collection of technical plus design components, with which you will be able to continue to expand and consolidate your market position according to demand and with security for the future.

The following questions can be answered and implemented in the mapping of business processes:

Definition of the goods and services to be billed: What is to be billed (goods, services), to what extent and in what quantity, in which currency, with which means of payment?

Billing partners: How are the billing partners defined (recipients of services, suppliers, providers etc.)? Are billing partners billed singly or collectively? Does billing take place Is "on behalf of", or is a "chain sale" mapped?

Billing documentation: How is the bill presented? Are there different forms for different types of billing, is there any electronic billing documentation?

Real-time billing: How quickly can or must the bill be presented? How is the billing process initiated? What criteria are there for this initiation (time, billing figures, other events)? Can billing be conducted individually for every billing partner and every item of goods or services? What types of billing are there?

Calculating the period allowed for payment: Can the period allowed for payment be individually calculated for each billing partner, item of goods or mode of payment (e.g. discount only on direct debit payments, only for certain products)? Can creditworthiness details be automatically updated and so directly influence factors such as the billing cycle, the period allowed for payment and the mode of payment?

Calculating terms and conditions: Seldom is the value of the transaction also the figure to be billed. What forms of discounts, fees, surcharges and deductions must be definable at which level? How are terms and conditions defined and calculated? Sophisticated calculation of terms and conditions is an essential component of individualised business logic, and it must be flexibly mappable

Error processing: With competent service and speedy reaction times, errors in service delivery are forgiven by the customer, but faulty billing on the other hand fundamentally destroys confidence. So it is essential first of all the check a transaction in detail as soon as possible after it has been effected, to ensure that it can be billed. Secondly, in the event of an error, the ability to bill the transaction must be restored as quickly as possible in order to avoid suffering financial losses. There are sophisticated systems for the detection and remedy of errors to assist in this task

Currency: Questions relating to the use of exchange rates are financially critical for transactions outside the euro-zone. Are bills produced in different currencies? What exchange rates are used? Are different rates defined for each billing partner and product or service?

Sales tax (VAT): Is the product or service to be billed subject to sales tax? Is the sales tax supplied, or does it have to be calculated? Does sales tax have to be managed separately for each country and product and billing partner?

This selection of components and questions shows that your company-specific business processes must be precisely and flexibly mapped in the billing system.Because: You can only offer what can also be billed.
